Getting a little warm again. Aloysius thought as he looked up at the sky, seeing that the large cluster of clouds that had been drifting to obscure the sun was finally passing. It was also nearing noon, the time was right for it to warm up.
Aloysius brought his hand up to brush a few loose strands out of his hair and then pushed the thin framed glasses further up the bridge of his nose. He had been leaning against the fountain in the center of the academy's front lawn. Giving a small push off the fountain, Aloysius stood strait as he removed the blue suit jacket and then draped it over his shoulders while leaving the sleeves empty, somewhat like a short cape.
He had chosen this spot to meet with Julia Spence. Aloysius hadn't really gotten to meet her outside of an official capacity that had been needed when he was hired on as an instructor. He didn't like the idea of that, Aloysius believed that considering how things worked here, he should get to know everyone at a personal level, despite if he would like them or not. He hoped the former would be more common.
Naturally it seemed the best person to start with would be the headmistress. So to give her plenty of time to set a little time aside he had left her a message the previous day to meet him at the fountain at this time today.
Pulling out two large marbles of an interesting shade of green, he held them out in the palm of his hand and then they lifted into the air before darting around each outer in dizzying patterns. Aloysius had to be careful with his powers, they were an incredible gift, but a costly one as well. Though little displays like this were not even close to a threat to him, and he enjoyed using his abilities, even for small things like this. Hearing footsteps approach, Aloysius looked up to see if the person approaching was who had had been waiting for.

Julia Spence stood tall in her office, adjusting the picture of a little girl on her desk. She brushed her fingertips, like a caress, against the glossed wood of the frame before heaving a small, sad sigh. A ghost of a smile lifted her lips upward as, even from her office, she heard children laughing down the halls. This is for you, my daughter, she thought. She shook herself from happy memories to look at the clock nailed to the wall opposite her desk.
Her eyes widened, "I'm late!" She grabbed a brush and ran it through her hair quickly before opening her door and stepping out into the otherwise empty hall. She had received a message from one of her teachers that they would like to meet outside of the boss/employee setting, perhaps to get to know one another better. Which Julia rather approved of. It showed great determination and sense of responsibility and kindness.
She stepped out onto the lawn and breathed the fairly warm breeze before. She enjoyed these warm, summer days. They reminded her of watermelons on the back porch of her old home and a laughing child running through sprinklers. Guilt and a sense of loss made Julia falter as she stepped out of the shade and into the sun. For a moment, she imagined a tiny form standing beside the fountain far in front of her. Hope brought her taking a step forward. Meredith...
But the mirage faded and in her daughter's place stood the teacher, Aloyslus. Straightening her back and squaring her shoulders, Julia quickly shook herself of the memories and walked toward the younger man. "Buon pomeriggio," she greeted in Italian when Aloyslus looked up at her. "Good afternoon!" she translated, unsure if he spoke Italian. She was just beginning to learn herself. She found it easier than others because it was most like Spanish, which she had also recently mastered. "What can I do for you, Mr. Lancaster?"

"Complimenti." Aloysius replied as he saw that it was indeed the person he had been waiting for, and that she had spoken Italian and likely did it better than he could. He had learned a little from his grandfather, though he hadn't really kept up with his Italian for many years now. "I would prefer English for right now. My Italian is rather rusty, though I might find time to ease back into it." He added before his small smile widened ever so slightly. "And unless it's a problem, I would rather you call me Aloysius outside of there being a need for calling me by my last name."
"Regardless, it's a pleasure to have your company today. We really haven't spoken outside of official introductions, and I don't like the idea of not knowing who I'm working with." His voice was even, deep and warm as he spoke. He flashed the headmistress a full smile before it dropped away to the permanent slight upward curving of the lips, almost like a cat's fixed grin.
"So I was wondering if you would care for a stroll, perhaps a friendly lunch, just get to know a little bit about each other." He continued. He had the feeling that she wouldn't say no to the offer. From what he could tell, this woman was direct and somewhat in the no-nonsense category, nothing he had a problem with, though he was hoping to learn more today. However, she seemed the type who would be happy to go ahead and work to form more relaxed relations between the staff and likely the students. After all, things worked much more smoothly that way.
He kept his bright eyes locked onto her shadowed ones. He could tell some deep pain echoed through her, though as to the exacts, he wouldn't begin to guess. Perhaps he would learn one day, but he wasn't going to pick at old or new wounds. Today he was simply trying to figure out if the relationship would work better being completely professional, or if things would work well with a more informal way of doing things.

After listening carefully, Julia nodded. She was impressed, to say the least. No other teacher had approached her, perhaps for her sharp attitude. The same went for the students. It didn't bother her too much, but she predicted that the more students arrived, the more she'd want to make a connection.
Julia did want to be friendly with all at her school. If they were all going to be living together, it was an obvious necessity. And she wanted her students to be able to trust her, despite the disciplinary actions she sometimes had to take. It was the point of the school, after all, to make the students feel safe and at home.
Julia gazed up at Aloyslus Lancaster and studied him openly. With his gray hair and glasses, he almost looked to be around his early fifties, maybe a few years younger. But she could have sworn that in his interview papers, it had clearly said that he was in his thirties. Julia felt her lips purse in held-back curiosity, her eyes narrowing slightly. He was an interesting person, she could tell. Perhaps a stroll and lunch wasn't a bad idea.
And it had been awhile since she had gone to lunch with a handsome man.
"Lunch would be lovely, Mr La--" she caught herself swiftly, "Aloyslus. Although I have a feeling that wherever we go -- whether it be off campus or on -- it might be crowded. Should we start with our stroll?"

Aloysius took some time to examine Julia a little more. She was likely a little older than himself, though he knew full well that most people would likely make the mistake of assuming he was older, he was in good health, but his pre-maturing had taken a toll upon him that was clearly visible. However, his employer looked to be a vibrant woman, likely extremely competent and knew her job well, he liked everything he felt that he saw.
"Pleased to hear you'll accompany me." He said as he let himself stand strait, no longer leaning against the fountain and then extended his right arm slightly crooked, he wasn't Mr. Suave by any means, but he knew it was considered proper to offer a lady one's arm when a pleasant stroll was about to begin.
"I haven't gotten to wander the grounds much since my arrival. Perhaps I could have you point a few highlights out as we walk by. I don't think I would mind such a lovely tour guide." He said as he waited to see if she would accept the formality or not.
